Douglas J Fahoury - Partner, Managing Director

As Managing Director, Doug Fahoury is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Iron Gate Capital. Doug has an extensive background in venture capital, public securities markets, executive management and company operations. Prior to Iron Gate Capital, Doug was Chief Investment Officer and Principal of Inventure Partners, a venture enterprise group that created, grew and funded three revenue generating operating companies. Doug lead Inventure’s Investment Committee and strategic business development as well as the start-up activities for Inventure’s portfolio companies, including business strategy and financial modeling.

Prior to Inventure, Doug was a Vice President with two venture funds (iBelay and Tango Partners) that had over $250 million under management. With both funds, Doug’s responsibilties included analyzing deal flow and performing due diligence. At iBelay, Doug also directed strategic development for iBelay’s portfolio companies through iBelay’s incubator, FastIdeas Accelerator.

Prior, Doug was one of the founding employees of Exactis.com, a technology company that raised over $28 million prior to going public. At Exactis.com, Doug was Vice President of Consumer Products and Business Development, where he managed operations, product development and business development for the company’s InfoBeat division (Exactis.com was acquired by 24/7 Media in June 2000).

Prior, Doug spent seven years in public securities research, the last three years as founder and Managing Director of McNatt, Douglas & Co, an equity research firm that provided investment and marketing research to regional brokerage firms. Doug has a BS in Business Adminstration from Colorado State University and an MBA from California State University, Sacramento.

 


Ryan Pollock - Partner, Managing Director

Ryan Pollock joined Iron Gate Capital in March 2013 as a Managing Director. Prior to joining Iron Gate Capital, Mr. Pollock was a Managing Director at Meritage Funds, a Private Equity and Venture Capital firm based in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Pollock has a strong operating background and held several management positions at Investec Asset Management, a $60 billion global investment company based in London. Mr. Pollock holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, a graduate degree in International Economics, Politics and Philosophy from Oxford University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association board of directors, an executive coach to MBA students at The Daniels College of Business at Denver University, and the founder and Chairman of Starfish Greathearts Foundation USA.

 


Steve McConahey - Partner

In addition to his management role with Iron Gate Capital, Steve McConahey is the chairman of SGM Capital, a firm focused on private equity investments and management advisory services. Prior to forming this firm, Steve was President and Chief Operating officer of EVEREN Securities and EVEREN Capital. EVEREN was formed through a management and ESOP buyout of Kemper Securities in 1995. After becoming a public NYSE company and one of the 10 largest securities brokerage firms in the country, EVEREN was purchased by First Union in October of 1999. Prior to his position with EVEREN, Steve had been Senior Vice President for corporate and international development for Kemper Corporation and Kemper Financial Services. Prior to that he was Chairman and CEO of Boettcher and Company, a regional investment banking firm then headquartered in Denver. During his time with Boettcher, Steve was a member of the Securities Industry Association and served on the Regional Firm Advisory Committee of the New York Stock Exchange. Kemper purchased Boettcher in 1985.

A native of Wisconsin, Steve received a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Upon graduation from Harvard, he joined the consulting firm of McKinsey and Company in Washington D.C. In 1972, he received a White House Fellowship and worked during that time with Cabinet Secretaries Elliot Richardson and Caspar Weinberger. After his fellowship, Steve became a program administrator in the Urban Mass Transit Administration and in 1976 joined the White House staff becoming President Ford's Special Assistant for Intergovernmental Affairs.

Steve moved to Denver in 1977 when he joined Boettcher and Company. While in Denver, he became actively involved in the Community. He served on the Board of the Downtown Denver Partnership, the Denver Symphony, and the Greater Denver Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the executive committee of the Blue Print for Colorado, a business group initiative outlining a legislative and development agenda for Colorado. He was also one of the co-organizers of the 1998 Denver Winter Games Committee that developed Denver's bid for the 1998 Winter Olympics. In the late 1980’s, Steve became the first chairman of the Greater Denver Corporation that was established to lead business efforts to support new infrastructure investments such as the Denver International Airport and the Convention Center and to stimulate business and job development in the Denver metro area.

Steve is currently a member of the board of directors for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. He is also a member of the advisory board for the Daniels School of Business, a member of the advisory council for the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Studies, and a member of the Metro Denver Sports Commission board of directors. Steve also serves as a trustee of the AMLI real estate investment trust and serves on the corporate boards of IQ Navigator, First Western Trust Bank and Macquarie Pro Logis Management Limited. Steve and his wife Kathy have two children and reside in Greenwood Village.

 


Robert Cohen - Partner

Robert Cohen is currently the CEO of The IMA Financial Group, Inc, a diversified financial services company comprised of three primary businesses: i) IMA, Inc., the 16th largest privately held retail insurance broker in the United States; ii) ERA, Inc., a wholesale insurance broker located in Dallas, Texas; and iii) TrueNorth, Inc., a discretionary money manager as both a registered investment advisor and a limited broker dealer.

Robert began his career with Chubb and Son in Dallas, New York / New Jersey, and Denver. A native of Kansas, he received his bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. His for-profit Board memberships include ccintellect; USR, Inc.; UMB Bank Colorado (past Board member); and Intertech Plastics (past Board member).

Robert has been recognized with the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce’s “Chamber Champion” award (1994), the Leadership Denver Alumni Association’s “Outstanding Alumnus” award (1996), inclusion in Colorado Business Magazine’s “Colorado’s Emerging Leaders” (1997) and The Denver Business Journal’s “Forty Under Forty” (1999), the National Association for Community Leadership’s Distinguished Leadership Award (1997), the 9News “Leader of the Year” award (1999), and the National Philanthropy Day in Colorado “Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser” award (2002).
